Am I God !!!
As I started to write this article, the first topic which
crossed my mind was ‘I am God’. But on second thoughts, the
voice in me said that I am not yet ready to state this
ultimate truth & do justice to explanation of this fact. So
then another topic which I felt, I would be compatible to deal
with – ‘Am I God !’
96% of people in this world feel that they are different from
rest of the world. What is this feeling, what are the thoughts
that tell us that we are different from rest? Which question
ringing in our head makes us stand out? Yes the very question
– ‘Am I God !’
Finding an answer to this question can be very tricky because
whether you reach a Yes or No, both answers can either ruin
your life or take to you to unknown heights.
One of the four Mahavakyas – AHM BHRAMASMI; God created man in
His own image (Holy Bible)1
; Harjan Har antar nahin (SGGS)2
; Shivoham, Shivoham (Adi Shanakracharya)3
; Every soul is potentially divine (Swami Vivekananda)4
; and a lot many holy writings & sayings tell me that I am
God. Not only that the very basic principle of Santan Hindu
Dharma - ‘God is in everyone’ also affirms this thought.
But what keeps me from finding an accurate & confirm answer is
realisation. Knowing you are something& Realising you are
something are two different phases of Human Intellect. If I am
God, why do I still have so many unanswered questions in my
mind, why do I often come across situations which seem to be
out of my control? There are lot many things which go to make
of define God5. My
conscience does not allow me to confirm the presence of those
‘lot many things’ ; so all this gives me a negative answer to
the interrogation of my mind – Am I God.
Churning the brain waves further & turning to a positive
approach for finding an answer, I again think, may be I am
God, yet to realise. May be I am another Gautam Buddha who is
still in his ‘Prince Siddhartha’ stage of life or I am Master
Lahri Mahasaya, who spent his life as a common man until by
co-incidence (for him, divine plan for his Guru) 6 he was
posted near his Guru’s cave & was eventually reconnect to his
previous stage of realisation. Or to that extent I am ‘Lord
Hanuman’ who has forgotten his powers & capacities due to
‘Shrapa’ of sadhus & am yet to be reminded of the same. If I
have a life like any of the above, or even distinctly similar
to any of them, then I believe the answer to Am I God would be
Yes.
As a reader, I know you would have understood by now that I
don’t have a definite answer, but as I said finding a absolute
Yes or No, can be a two sided blade.
A definite yes will make you divine, compassionate, truthful,
forgiving, loving, caring, positive & do a lots of good to you
and to the whole mankind. However it may even raise your
Superiority Complex to such high levels to turn you into
arrogant, self-centered, selfish, narrow minded person that
you don’t even remain Human, let alone being God.
On the other hand a absolute No would tell you that you are
just another human in this universe meant only to be a puppet
in the hands of destiny, luck, karma or whatever you prefer to
call it. But a No will also instigate your feelings, thoughts
& passion to become One & turn this No into Yes.
So at this particular stage of my realisation & understanding,
I guess its good that instead of a Yes or No, I have in my
mind – Am I God !
