God’s on Vacation

Once there was a small office in a small city where few people were working. However the whole office was centered around the Boss – The owner of the company. Well it so happened that due to some reasons the Boss had to go out of town for some period of time. He just thought to himself that its been a long time since I took a vacation and also the staff is well settled in their respective duties, if I direct them properly, they must be able to continue the order of the office even in my absence so why not ? Thus he called upon each of them and gave them instructions on how to work & behave while he was away…

As he went to office, some of his people were obedient and also attached to the work, however some people took advantage of his absence and started to neglect their duties. The obedient group thought lets cover-up for the duties not carried by the other lot so that when the Boss comes back he finds everything the way he left. Now the good people however good are not as good as the boss and the bad ones believe whatever they do no one is there to keep an eye on them so they worsen the situation for the Good ones. You think the work will flow smoothly or the office will function without any chaos. Well the office would have closed down was it not for the obedient group, but it will not function properly and the good people will continue to suffer till the Boss Comes Back!

You might say this looks like more of a Management story, well that’s the story of the present day world. The Boss – God was here, he setup an order and somehow was convinced that world will function properly even if he went for a small vacation. He called all his subjects and gave them instruction about their duties and behavior in his absence. The Bhagwad Gita, The Holy Bible, The Holy Quran, Sri Guru Granth Sahib and like, are nothing but the instruction manuals set by God to follow while he is on vacation. Some of us are obedient while others are the non-obedient or ignorant. The good people take up the responsibilities to free others along with themselves from this dualistic world, while the ignorant make their path more difficult. More the good ones try to be as perfect as the Lord Himself more they are presented with worldly obstacles. These Good people forwarded the message to coming generation, Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the Manual of Conduct & Duties coded by the Ten Sikh Gurus together, the Quran is the instructions given to Prophet Mohammad by the Unfathomable, Jesus preached whatever he received from His Father. Thus the good people wished that the Good and Righteous remain alive in the world, till such time when the Lord Comes Back.

In both cases – Office and World, everything can only be alright when the Boss – the Lord comes back and takes up the control in his hand. In case of the office, the Boss will come back soon and take over the charge, It will take him some time though to make things normal. But in case of the World, the Akal Purakh will appear and at once order will be installed. The big questions that arise here is when is the Boss coming back. When will the good people be relieved of carrying out the duty which is not theirs and which they are hardly able to fulfill? Well the answer is provided in the Holy Scriptures, in the Teachings and Preaching of the Masters’ and in the Lord’s words itself.

yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata
abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaḿ sṛjāmy aham 1

The Shloka translate to :
Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion — at that time I descend Myself.

Lord Krishna while speaking to arjuna on the battle field of Kurukshetra prophesized His descent back on earth. Lord will come back only when there is predominant rise of irreligion. When the Bad ones out number the Good ones in deeds and thought. Lord keeps an eye on this world and waits for the right time to come. Well, this will only be when most of the people become sinful and neglect their duties. When there is a total chaos in the world and nothing is left in order. When there are more questions than any one of us can answer.

“Then the sign of the Son of Man Will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” 2

In Noah’s day the majority were ‘not living by the rules’ and were ignoring the message. They wanted to live sinfully and did not want rules. Jesus will come when children will not obey their parents, the brother will stand against another, one religion will stand against the other, one nation will stand against the other, so many sins will prevail on earth, destructions disaster these are the some of the signs to convey everyone that Son of God’s coming back is nearing.

Let’s ask ourselves whether we are in that situation today, whether the cruel Kaurava’s out-number the holy pandavas in person and deeds, whether Noah’s day has arrived… Yes the situations have worsened by day, we have more chaos and non-binding people around, but the question is have they out numbered the Good Ones? The obedient staff of the company are still following the boss’ orders and managing the short comings of the non-obedient to such extent that the office will function properly, hoping that the boss will be back soon from the vacation and they will be relieved of the extra duty. Same with this world, the preachers, teachers, intellectuals, all are trying to cover up for the rest in the hope that God will come soon and relieve them from the dualistic bondage. But God unlike the boss will not come back after a fixed time, He will only be back when the Adharma prevails the Dharma.

Since we haven’t been blessed enough to witness the descent of God, lets believe that the World today still has more Good, rule following, honest people rather than Bad, Sinful ones. We are not committing enough Sins for the God to come and handle the situation. Would that mean that we all will have to be sinful and ignorant to our duties if we really wish God to come ….
Note : This article is reflection of the situations and incidents I have witnessed in the near past. Ideologically my thought process believes I am no different from the Supreme Being, that I am not waiting for Him to come. ( Relative Link : AM I GOD ! )
