सर्वाना महाराष्ट्र दिनाच्या हर्धिक शुभेच्छा. आपण सर्वाना माहित असेलच की WordPress Global Translation Day च निम्मित साधून वर्डप्रेसचे मराठीकरण नुकताच १००% झाल आहे.मराठी बोलणाऱ्यांची एकूण लोकसंख्या जवळ जवळ ९,००,००,००० आहे, आणि आता जगतल सर्वात जास्त लोकप्रिय वेब देवल्प्मेंत टूल या लोकांना आपल्या भाषेत उपलब्द झाला आहे.
निरक्षरता विकासच्या मार्गावर एक मोठा अडथळा आहे. पण लोक साक्षर असले तरी ते इंग्रजी मध्ये साक्षर असतील, याची शाश्वती नाही. इंटरनेटमुळे माहिती प्राप्त आणि आत्मसात करण्याची पदत अत्यंत बदलली आहे. पण इंटरनेट वर उपलब्द असलेली अधिकांश माहिती इंग्रजीत आहे आणि त्याचे मुख्य कारण म्हणजे सर्व वेब देवलप्मेन्त टूल्स फक्त इंग्रजीतच उपलब्द असणे. वेब साईट तयार करणाऱ्या व मेंटेन करणाऱ्या लोकांना इंग्रजी शिवाय पर्याय नसल्यामुळे इंग्रजी मध्ये अस्खलित असावाच लागते. याच कारणाने खूप लोक जे आपलं ज्ञान आणि विचार जगासमोर मांडू शकता तसं करून शकत नाही किवां करत नहित. या समस्ये वर उपाय म्हणजे मराठी लोकांना मराठी भाषेत माहित प्रकाशित करण्यासाठी आणि वापरण्यासाठी पर्याय उपलब्ध करून देणे. वर्डप्रेसचे मराठीकरण करण्या मागे हाच उद्देश आहे.
मराठी अनुवाद वर काम करणाऱ्या टीम (polyglots) चा भाग असल्याने, मी खूप रोमांचित आहे. मला अशी आशाच नव्हे तर खात्री आहे कि वर्डप्रेस ची मराठी आवृत्ती आणि तज्ञ मराठी लोकांच ज्ञान मिळून, खूप मौल्यवान कंटेंट, त्याची गरज असलेल्या लोकां पर्यंत पोचवलं जाईल.
शेवटी प्रत्येक मराठी मनाचा आवडता वाक्य… गर्वाच नव्हे तर माज आहे मराठी असल्याचा !

Wishing Everyone a Happy Maharashtra Day. As you are aware that in the context of WordPress Global Translation Day, WordPress has recently been 100% translated to Marathi. There is about 9,00,00,000 Marathi speaking population across the globe and world’s most popular web development tool is now available to them in their mother tongue.
One of the biggest obstacle on the road to development is illiteracy. Even if people are literate it is not necessary that they will be fluent in English. Internet has drastically changed the way we get and assimilate information. But most of the information available on internet is in english and the main reason behind this is that most of the web development tools are in English. Web developers and content managers have no option but to be good in English. This is why many people who have their thoughts and knowledge can’t or don’t share online. The solution to this problem is providing Marathi people tools in Marathi for creating content in their own language, hence Marathi translation of WordPress.
Being a part of team working on Marathi translation (polygots) I am very excited. I am quite sure that combing WordPress Marathi with knowledge and expertise of Marathi minds will provide important content to those who need it.
